A mother in Argentina gave birth prematurely at 6 months to her daughter Luz. The baby was pronounced dead by doctors after the birth, and her little body was sent off to the morgue.
The devastated mother asked to see her baby one last time and was taken off to the morgue to visit her, and there she found the baby still alive. The baby had been in the morgue for 10 hours, in the morgue refrigerator.
CNN reports:
Analia Boutet, the baby's mother, had given birth four times previously, and had recently suffered a miscarriage. This baby was born on April 3, three months early, and had no vital signs, hospital director Dr. Jose Luis Meirino told CNN.
The gynecologist on hand didn't find any signs of life, so he passed the baby to a neonatal doctor who also didn't find vital signs, Meirino said.
The doctors observed the baby for a while, and only then, pronounced her dead.
The hospital followed protocol, Meirino said.
Two morgue workers then put her body inside a little wooden coffin and placed it in the freezer.
"Up to that point, there were still no vital signs," the hospital director said.
The baby is now in a critical condition and the hospital is being investigated. I hope she makes it through and is able to tell her own children the miraculous story.

I am stunned. How could a baby survive for that long in a refrigerator? I recently read in 2 different magazines about a baby that was supposedly stillborn. The baby was held by the mother against her skin and started to show signs of movement but apparently that is normal as sometimes the body has muscle spasms and other movements just after death. They declined to hand the baby over as both parents wanted more time to cuddle and admire the beautiful baby. After some time (I can't remember how long) the mother could hear a heartbeat, feel a pulse and see other signs of life. This time the Dad went and found a Registered Nurse and insisted that she call a Dr. to come and re-check the baby. They took the baby to a special neo-natal after checking vital signs and he/she was placed in a special crib to increase body temperature and for monitoring. They think skin-to-skin can sometimes be a lifesaver in some cases as there have been just a few other cases. Had they not persisted the baby would not have survived. I openly admit that I cried when I read the article in the magazine with the photo of the parents with their beautiful baby.

Seems to me this baby is meant to live. Let's hope the families prayers are answered.

Woah, I'm shocked and pretty much speechless after reading this.
What a horrible experience for the mother and baby (and I'm sure for anyone else involved too)
Hope this miracle baby pulls through...

I read this this morning and words fail me!
I hope some people are held accountable for this and we find out the results.
Prayers for the little miracle baby
